What the Seed Break-Even Calculator Does
A free browser-based tool that calculates the exact number of harvests needed to recover your seed investment in Garden Horizons. Select a crop, set your modifiers, and instantly see your break-even point.
All 15 Paid Crops Covered
Includes every Seed Shop crop from Carrot (20 Shillings) to Cherry (1,000,000 Shillings). Free crops are excluded since they have no break-even point — every harvest is pure profit.
Instant Break-Even Number
The hero display shows exactly how many harvests you need. Green means first-harvest profit, yellow means 2-5 harvests, and the number scales based on your variant and ripening settings.
Single vs Multi-Harvest Awareness
For single-harvest crops, each break-even harvest requires replanting (and re-spending). For multi-harvest crops, the break-even count represents picks from a single planting — true cost recovery.
10-Cycle Profit Projection
For multi-harvest crops, the calculator also shows projected net profit and ROI after 10 harvest cycles, giving you a realistic session-length estimate.
Variant & Ripening Impact
See how Gold (x5) variant or Lush (x3) ripening reduces your break-even point. A Cherry that needs 125 base harvests to break even only needs 9 harvests at Gold + Lush.
Visual Crop Picker
Browse crops by source tab with rarity-coded cards. Each card shows seed cost and base sell for quick comparison before selecting.
Break-Even Calculator FAQ
What does break-even mean for single-harvest crops?+
For single-harvest crops like Carrot or Wheat, the break-even number represents how many times you need to plant and harvest (each time buying a new seed) before your cumulative revenue exceeds cumulative seed costs. A break-even of 1 means you profit on every single planting.
Which crop has the fastest break-even in Garden Horizons?+
At base values (Normal variant, Unripe), Carrot breaks even in 1 harvest (seed 20, sell 30). Among expensive crops, Cabbage (seed 150,000, sell 60,000) breaks even in 3 plantings. Cherry (seed 1,000,000, sell 8,000) needs 125 harvests at base — but only 9 at Gold + Lush.
Does the calculator include mutations?+
No. The break-even calculator focuses on seed cost recovery with variant and ripening modifiers only. Mutations would reduce break-even further but are unpredictable, so they are excluded for conservative planning. Use the Mutation Stack Calculator for mutation analysis.
Why are free crops not shown?+
Gardener Pack, Dawn Pack, and Code-exclusive crops have zero seed cost. Their break-even point is always 0 — every harvest is immediate profit. Including them would not provide useful information in a break-even context.
How does ripening affect break-even?+
Ripened (x2) halves the break-even count, and Lush (x3) cuts it to one-third. Combined with Gold variant (x5), Lush gives you a x15 per-harvest multiplier, which can turn a 125-harvest break-even into a 9-harvest one.
Know Your Break-Even Before You Plant
Every Shilling counts in Garden Horizons, especially for expensive crops like Cherry and Cabbage. The Break-Even Calculator takes the guesswork out of seed investment decisions by showing you the exact number of harvests needed to recover your cost. Use it before every major purchase to ensure you can commit to enough harvest cycles to turn a profit.
