Mutations stack additively, not multiplicatively. Formula: sum(multipliers) - count + 1. Two x20 mutations give x39, not x400.
What the Mutation Stack Calculator Does
A free browser-based tool that calculates the total mutation multiplier using Garden Horizons' additive stacking formula. Toggle any combination of mutations and see the exact math in real time.
All 14 Selectable Mutations
Toggle 8 weather mutations (Soaked x1.2 through Starstruck x6.5) and 6 event mutations (Tidal x2 through Salad x20). Each mutation button shows its individual multiplier.
Auto Combo Detection
When you select Sandy + Flooded, the calculator automatically triggers Muddy (x5). Same for Foggy + Chilled → Mossy (x3.5) and Soaked + Snowy → Frostbit (x3.5). Visual alerts show when combos activate.
Full Formula Breakdown
See every step of the additive stacking formula: sum of all multipliers minus count plus one. The panel shows the exact math so you understand why Shocked (x4.5) + Starstruck (x6.5) = x10, not x29.25.
Real-Time Updates
Every toggle instantly recalculates the total. No submit buttons, no page reloads — just click and read.
Grouped by Category
Mutations are organized into Weather and Event groups with color-coded tiers: low (gray), mid (blue), high (green), and ultra (red) for quick visual scanning.
Clear All with One Click
Reset all selections instantly with the Clear button. Experiment with different combinations without manually unchecking each mutation.
How Mutation Stacking Works in Garden Horizons
The Additive Formula Explained
Garden Horizons mutations do NOT multiply with each other. They use an additive stacking formula: total multiplier = sum of all active mutation multipliers minus the count of active mutations plus one. With Shocked (x4.5) and Starstruck (x6.5) active, the result is 4.5 + 6.5 - 2 + 1 = 10x total, not 4.5 x 6.5 = 29.25x. This additive system means the marginal value of each additional mutation is just its individual multiplier minus 1. A Soaked (x1.2) on top of Banned (x20) only adds 0.2 to the total — essentially negligible.
Combo Mutations Replace Components
Three special combo mutations exist: Muddy (x5) replaces Sandy + Flooded, Mossy (x3.5) replaces Foggy + Chilled, and Frostbit (x3.5) replaces Soaked + Snowy. When a combo triggers, both component mutations are removed from the stack and the combo mutation takes their place. This can be better or worse depending on the components — Muddy (x5) replaces Sandy (x2.5) + Flooded (x1.75) which would have been 2.5 + 1.75 - 2 + 1 = 3.25x as separate mutations. The combo at x5 is strictly better in this case.
Prioritize High-Tier Mutations
Because of additive stacking, one high-tier mutation is worth more than many low-tier ones. Banned (x20) alone gives a x20 multiplier. To reach x20 with low-tier mutations, you'd need an absurd number of Soaked (x1.2) and Foggy (x1.25) stacks. Focus your farming sessions on weather events that trigger Shocked (x4.5) or Starstruck (x6.5) for the biggest gains.
Mutation Calculator FAQ
Do mutations multiply with each other in Garden Horizons?+
No. Mutations stack additively using the formula: sum(multipliers) - count + 1. Two x20 mutations give x39 total, not x400. This is a common misconception — the additive formula dramatically limits stacking potential compared to multiplicative systems.
What is the maximum possible mutation multiplier?+
Theoretically, activating all 14 selectable mutations (excluding combos) would give a sum of about 78.9 minus 14 plus 1 = 65.9x. In practice, some mutations are mutually exclusive through combo replacement, and admin mutations like Banned and Salad are extremely rare.
Are combo mutations always better than their components?+
Not always, but usually yes. Muddy (x5) replaces Sandy (x2.5) + Flooded (x1.75) which separate would be 3.25x — so Muddy is better. Mossy (x3.5) replaces Foggy (x1.25) + Chilled (x1.5) which separate would be 1.75x — Mossy is much better. Frostbit (x3.5) replaces Soaked (x1.2) + Snowy (x2) which separate would be 2.2x — Frostbit is also better.
How do I get admin mutations like Banned or Salad?+
Admin mutations are triggered exclusively by game developers during special events. They cannot be obtained through regular gameplay or weather events. Follow the Garden Horizons developer social channels for event announcements.
Master Mutation Stacking
Understanding the additive stacking formula is the key to maximizing your Garden Horizons profits. This calculator shows you the exact math behind every combination so you can make informed decisions about which mutations to chase and which to ignore.
